Still Wanted: Fun with Jellybean

By: MMDR

Of all of the Still Wanted dogs we’ve featured so far, Jellybean provides the biggest puzzle for many of MMDR’s team! She is such a unique beauty with one of the most fun-loving and gentle temperaments we’ve come across!

Jellybean as a young puppy,
when she first came into the
care of MMDR.
Jellybean does require a family who will be active with her, but we know that there has to be a family out there looking for a dog to join them on their adventures! Jellybean would love to go hiking, skijoring, jogging, biking; you name it, Jellybean would love it! She continues to settle down as she grows up in foster care, but Jellybean will always be a girl who loves to have a romping good time.

Jellybean also requires a home that can provide her with incredible cuddles. This girl loves to be loved! She adores her people and will give your family as much snuggle time as you’d like! She would do well in a family with other pets and older kids (or young kids used to bouncier dogs).

When we set out to write Jellybean’s Still Wanted blog, we received a few letters from those who love her. This one is from an MMDR team member:

She needs space where she can go run and play and get tired out. She's been in care she she was a little puppy and is now 9 months old. She is beautiful with the most loving soul. Her fun actually sparkles. She's been calming down nicely, too! She was so good at the fair, she big and bouncy but would be the most loyal loving dog in the world. I really want to find her the family she deserves.

One of our all-time favourite foster descriptions, this letter is from Jellybean’s foster mom (who would love to keep her but already has her limit of doggies):

Jellybean today! What a stunning
dog with such a spark.
Are you looking for a friend who is happy all the time?

Will get you off the couch and into the great outdoors?

Consider Jellybean!

How would I describe her? Energetic, fun, loyal, sweet, playful, mischevious, curious, and cuddly.
She can be a little challenging at times but she is very smart and learns fast when given the right discipline. She really loves being with people and aims to please.
She's great with kids though older would be best, and she enjoys dogs and cats. She loves laying on feet if you are doing something at the counter, gets into the crook of your arm, crosses her paws and cuddles. Loves her cuddle time as much as playtime.

If you’re looking for love and a good time, look no further. Jellybean is your girl! To apply to meet and adopt Jellybean, please email an adoption application to adoptions@manitobamutts.org!

Still Wanted: Winning Tika's Love

There is no such thing as a perfect dog, but with some dogs, their imperfections are worn closer to the surface. Many times, the issues our Most Wanted dogs need to work though are simple uncertainty or fear. These issues need time, patience and love to heal, but these dogs often make the very best family members given the right home!

Before coming into care with MMDR, Tika and her sister Zoey had lived their entire lives in an outdoor dog run with little to no interaction with people or other dogs. Tika is a very smart girl, and thankfully she is healing from her prior life with zeal. Although she is still unsure in new situations, she loves indoor life and has developed a good bond with her foster mom. Tika will need time to get used to any men in her family, but with patience and enough love, she would bond with them as well. She does well with other dogs, but still feels unsure about eating with other dogs around. She would do best in a quieter home with a lot of attention. She will make an incredible companion for the right family!

Tika is waiting for the perfect family to come along.
Is it yours?

Most Wanted - Building Trust with Mayhem

By MMDR

One of the hardest things about animal rescue is trying to find the perfect match for each and every dog.  There are so many dogs in need of homes, and luckily many adopters. The challenge comes when a dog needs a particular type of family to join. Sometimes it takes a little longer, and a little more digging to find that perfect match.

When it comes to choosing a pet, we all want the perfect family member.
Sometimes, that perfect fit is with a “less-than-perfect” dog. Our Still Wanted Mutts are wonderful, deserving dogs who often just need steady guidance and a loving home to reach their amazing potential.

Mayhem started out his MMDR journey as a frightened, mistrustful dog who didn’t want to leave the safety of his home. He has come a long way since then! Mayhem has blossomed into a fun-loving guy who adores the dog park and enjoys car rides. Mayhem knows all of his basic commands as well as some fun tricks. He does well with other animals, walks well on a leash, and is completely house and kennel trained. This good boy would do very well in a quiet home where he could continue to work on his trust issues and would do best in a home with older children or no kids. Mayhem may require some effort, but he will repay you tenfold in loyalty and selflessness.

Why not take a chance on this special guy?

Most Wanted - Rennie's Potential

Rennie is smart, gentle and loves people more than anything.  She came into care from a shelter environment that made her very nervous and stressed out.  Other dogs can be frightening to her and while she has a tendency to bark and lunge at them, she does want to be friends.  Rennie needs a family that will teach her to work through her fear issues. She does have a high prey drive and would prefer to find a home without cats.  Her foster parents love her and can see that she is a great dog with a lot of potential.

Rennie is a smart, loving girl who would be a proud member of the right family!

Most Wanted Chloe, Our Shining Star

By MMDR

Chloe is the perfect girl to kick of Manitoba Mutt’s Still Wanted Campaign, where we plan to feature some of our most exceptional dogs who need a healthy dose of time in the spotlight.

Imagine being homeless, without a consistent source of food or shelter.  From what we can piece together about Chloe’s past, this is where her story begins.

Her Past:
After spending some time as a stray, Chloe eventually found her way to Winnipeg Animal Services.  Once she was safe and sound, her bright personality really began to shine.  It was quickly realized that as a true puppy at heart, she craved attention and direction from the people around her.  It was also discovered that her time on the streets had caused her to become slightly protective over her kibble...and who could blame her?  When there isn’t a lot of food to go around, hunger and fear can sometimes create habits that take some time to break.

Her Present:
Enter Manitoba Mutts.  Chloe was transferred over to us where we arranged a foster home and a routine that includes exercise, love and a program to help her learn to share her food.  Her amazing foster parents have been committed to working with a dog trainer on some training techniques and Chloe is learning so much every day.

Her Future:
Now we ask you, the devoted dog community of Winnipeg: How can we find the perfect home for this loveable girl who is just looking for a second chance after she was dealt an unfortunate hand?

Hint: We need to find a family that is willing to continue Chloe’s training and routine to optimize her doggie-happiness for the rest of her life.  She gets a kick out of learning so her new family should be just as excited about teaching!

She has a loyal nature, loves to be silly and knows how to put her heart-melting eyes to good use.  She’s also house trained, doesn’t chew and likes her kennel.  Like so many dogs, a good walk or jog will make her day but she’s never fully satisfied until she gets a good cuddle session in.  Now here’s the really mushy part - she would love to be your only dog and claim the spotlight of your heart all to herself.  Trust us, she is more than worth it!

If you’re looking for a free smile, check out this video of her.  We guarantee it will brighten your day.

Sitting Pretty!

Chloe Loves to Learn!
